Our holiday accommodation is aimed at independent travellers and although we are currently unable to make travel, car hire or hotel accommodation arrangements for our clients we are very happy to provide advice and help with any information you may require as part of our personalised service. Please do not hesitate to contact us by telephone, email or letter with any questions you may have about travel arrangements or general local information.

Shown below are a selection of useful websites and general information which can be consulted for air, road and rail travel, accommodation and maps as well as local and regional information you may find useful.

The area has excellent transport links with the rest of Europe being easily accessed by air into Gerona, by rail via Eurostar, French and Spanish railways, and, by road using the very close motorway system. It should be noted that because the area is relatively quiet and although there are local bus services a car is essential to reach many of the properties which lie some distance from a bus stop.

AIR

Most convenient airport is Gerona (50 mins) but flights also to Barcelona (2 hrs +), Perpignan (1hr 40mins), Carcassonne (2hrs). Gerona is very easily accessed from a large number of regional and national airports in the UK with Ryanair. Other airports have varying frequencies of service from the UK.

Table below shows a selection of airports and airlines.

ROAD

Using the cross channel ferries or Eurotunnel, and, the French and Spanish motorway systems (some sections are toll roads) a relatively easy and quick journey can be achieved. For a slower more relaxed pace the trunk roads can also offer an interesting alternative. See below for maps and route planning.

Some approximate distances are shown below with times dependent on speed and selected route.

Local roads on this area of the Costa Brava are generally very good and rarely suffer from congestion (although in August some smaller roads can be very busy at weekends).

RAIL

Rail is rapidly growing in popularity due to its more environmentally friendly aspects and more relaxed form of travel. The area can be reached very easily and quickly using Eurostar from the UK, SCNF and the TGV network in France which links to the Spanish rail network RENFE. There are main stations in Figueras and Gerona, plus a smaller one in Flaca, which are within an hour by car of the Tamariu area. Please note a hire car would be required once in the area.
